WTM SERIES ON CHRISTIAN ORDINANCES
INTRODUCTIONYou are welcome to Insights from God's Word, a Bible Study Programme that is committed to sharing God's Word by allowing the Bible to speak for itself.
Friends, we greet you in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
In this study, we bring you the introduction to our series on Christian Ordinances. From the Gospels and other New Testament books, we learn about how during the ministry of Jesus on earth, He established certain clear ordinances for His disciples to follow. These ordinances include the rite of baptism and the Lord's Supper. In the book of James, we also read about a third Christian ordinance called the anointing service through which special prayers are offered for the sick.
Besides these three ordinances we find in Scripture, we also find several other ordinances or festivals that are practiced by the majority in Christendom. Some of these extra biblical festivals include Christmas, Easter and Halloween. In this series, we are going to consider in detail the various biblical ordinances as well as some of the extra biblical festivals in Christendom. The series is designed to answer several important questions that many have pondered in relation to the various ordinances we have in Christendom today. The entire series is dubbed: Christian Ordinances. The topics in this Special Series of Bible Study are as follows:
1. Biblical Baptism
2. The Lord's Supper
3. The Anointing Service
4. Extra Biblical Festivals in Christendom
