LESSON 12
AN INVITATION TO EXPERIENCE THE GODHEAD
You are welcome to another edition of Insights from God's Word, a Bible study programme that is committed to sharing God's Word by allowing the Bible to speak for itself.Friends, I want to thank the Lord so much for how far He has brought us. This study will be the last in our series on The Godhead. In this last study, we will consider the topic: An Invitation to Experience the Godhead.
In the various lessons we have covered so far, we tried to consider various topical issues that the Scripture makes clear in relation to the Godhead. For instance, we have seen clearly that the Godhead is made up of three distinct Personalities who are one in nature, attributes and purpose. We have seen clearly that the Godhead is made up of several impressive attributes, with the clearest of them being the love that they have for the creatures they have made.
Friends, besides what the Bible clearly reveals about the Godhead, there are also several things about God that are shrouded in mystery. For the Word of God clearly states: "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!" (
And yes! As we noted in the earlier portion of this study, the Scripture has revealed several things about God, one of the finest being that God is love (
In sending out Christ to our planet, heaven gave out her all so you and I could be saved. It is the heart desire of the Godhead that we all benefit from the plan of salvation that cost the very life of the Son. Just like in the story of the prodigal son, the Godhead is longing for us to come back home by accepting the supreme sacrifice of the Son. The Three who bear record in heaven are waiting to begin, and develop an intimate relationship with each one of us.
Are you troubled because of your dark past? Do you sometimes think that God cannot forgive you? The Father's invitation to you today is this: "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool" (
Are you troubled by the news in our world today? Are you disappointed in life? Are you about to give up? The Son's invitation to you today is this: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (
Are you wearied in chasing the fleeting things of this world? Do you long for a better life that really satisfies the soul? The Spirit's invitation to you today is this: "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely" (
Beloved, the Godhead invites each and every one of us today to come and experience the joy that springs forth from knowing who they really are. They want to have an intimate personal relationship with each one of us here on earth, and through this relationship prepare us for an eternity of bliss with themselves.
My dear friend, what are you waiting for? Please don't cling to the world and sin while salvation is so full and free in the shed blood of Christ. As I said earlier, it does not matter what you have done in the past. Just run into the arms of Jesus today, and He will never reject you (see
Exhortation: The Songwriter Will Lamartine Thompson captures the invitation that the Godhead extends to each one of us through Jesus in these beautiful lines:
1. Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, Calling for you and for me; At the heart's portal He's waiting and watching, Watching for you and for me.
Refrain: Come home, come home, Ye who are weary, come home; Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling, Calling, O sinner, come home!
2. Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading, Pleading for you and for me? Why should we linger and heed not His mercies, Mercies for you and for me?
3. Think of the wonderful love He has promised, Promised for you and for me; Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon, Pardon for you and for me.
Stay blessed and keep shining for King Jesus.
Maranatha!
